Pedigrees

A responsible breeder always looks to always improve the breed. Pedigrees are not only a dog's family tree, they represent the thinking behind what individual breeders think will improve their line. Are they looking for temperament? Absence of genetic health problems? Conformation? Coat? Hunting ability? Hopefully all of the above!

At Diamond MK Weimaraners, we make decisions based on all of the above — and then some. Our foundation litter — "Route 66" is the breeding between Tonopah and Aurora. Ken and I, with the help of breeder/friend Debbie Hopkins looked for more than 2 years to find a complete outcross — meaning that no two pedigrees double up on relatives. We believe this is an ideal way to start a kennel. This long search including not only looking at Pedigrees but also at several puppies. It was a painstaking, time-intensive search but 100% worthwhile.

We are extremely pleased with the results. By carefully selecting two brilliant dogs with outgoing personalities, instinctive hunting ability and conformation correctness, coupled with sound movement, good health and love of people we found the perfect combination.
